” With all the profound wording of the Constitution, probably the most meaningful words are the first three, “We, the People.” Those of us here today who have been elected to constitutional office of legislative position are in that three word phrase. We are of the people, chosen by them to see that no permanent structure of government ever encroaches on freedom or assumes a power beyond that freely granted by the people…
It is inconceivable to me that anyone could accept this delegated authority without asking God’s help. I pray that we who legislate and administer will be granted wisdom and strength beyond our own limited power…” ~Ronald Reagan Gubernatorial Inauguration address Jan 5, 1967
Reagan’s words are no less profound today than they were when he spoke them in 1967. They’re words I take to heart and dwell on before officially taking office this Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015 at 12:00 pm when I will have the high honor of being sworn in as Representative for Minnesota House District 12A. I do not take this responsibility lightly, and I am humbled to be part of Minnesota history.
Tuesday I become your voice… “We are of the people, chosen by them”.
If you would like to view the ceremony, you can watch it live Tuesday at 12 noon through the Minnesota House of Representatives website.
