BACKER FILES TO RUN FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE 2016

Jeff BackerEndorsed Republican Candidate Makes Re-election Bid Official Small business owner and State Representative Jeff Backer filed for re-election as State Representative in House District 12A today, officially submitting the necessary paperwork to appear on the August 9 primary election ballot (if necessary) and November 8 general election ballot. Backer filed his affidavit of candidacy at the Traverse County Courthouse.

“It is an honor to file for office as the endorsed Republican candidate and I look forward to the campaign season,” Backer stated. “It has been a privilege to work on the education, agriculture, transportation, health care and rural economic development issues vital to western and northwestern Minnesota and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made.”

A former mayor and school board member, Backer is serving his first term in the Minnesota House of Representatives and is a member of the Agriculture Policy, Health and Human Services Policy and Health and Human Services Finance committees.

“From standing up to excessive DNR regulations to securing record funding for our nursing homes, schools and for rural broadband, I’m proud of our record on behalf of rural Minnesota. It’s a far cry from the days when Democrats controlled all of state government and gave us a metro agenda of huge income tax increases, wasteful spending, gay marriage and the Obamacare health care debacle,” said Backer.

Backer lists his legislative priorities as the promotion of job creation and growth of main street economies; a reduced regulatory burden on farmers and small business owners; fair education funding, reform and accountability; and support for seniors, pro-life, pro-family and Second Amendment initiatives.

“I look forward to continuing our hard-working campaign and meeting people at their doors, community celebrations, parades, county fairs, athletic events and church suppers. I welcome comments, suggestions and ideas invite people to learn more about my campaign at www.JeffBacker.com,” Backer said.
